NYC Fashion Week Snapshots
Here are a few snapshots mainly taken via iphone from our trip to New York City last week. We had such a wonderful time hanging out with friends, eating the most delicious foods, going to museums and gallery openings and going to some fun and fabulous fashion week events.

Photoshoot Preview: American Dreamer
Hello friends! I am back from a very inspiring and refreshing week long vacay spent in NYC. I have some fun travel snapshots I'll be sharing but first I wanted to share an image from a shoot I got to do while I was in the city with one of my dear friends Rachel. We shot mainly near City Hall and Time Square and the journey in between (where we found this delicious ice cream!) I still need to get the final roll of film developed and then I'll be able to share the rest. Be excited!

Goodbye NYC hello Phoenix.....
Just a little post to say that I'm finally home. I'm so happy I could hug a cactus!!! Well not really....ouch! I've had an incredible summer in one of the most exciting, creative and diverse places in the world. Although there are many things I will miss and even mourn about being in New York, I really really enjoy being home in Phoenix. I think mainly the fact that it's home and it's where my friends and family are really makes me content in being here. Also after a year of 3 months overseas 6 months in AZ and then a couple in NY I'm just really happy to be in one place for an extended period of time and have some stability in my life (yay!) Alrighty that's all for now.... :)

M.I.A.+Die Antwoord Music Fest
What a great last weekend in NYC!! Last minute on Friday one of my girlfriends had an extra ticket to the MIA show on governors island and invited me to come with (om yes please!!!) Here's just a few images of our time. The festival in whole was pretty off the hook. MIAs set was a bit disappointing and cut short by rain but overall I had a lot of fun. I think my favorite part of the show was the set right before MIA's with a group from south Africa called Die Antwoord. Insannnne stuff.

Fairy Tale Reunion Series: The Final Piece
I know everyone has been on the edge of their seat waiting for this so here you go ;)! For anyone who was not able to make it to the exhibition just wanted to share the final images we used and a little bit of our process. Basically there were 7 different collaborative groups with artists of all different mediums from dance to photography to painting etc. Each group was given a word to prompt their creative process and this is what our group created around the word REUNION. We wanted to do something fun and light hearted that would make people smile but also that had a deeper meaning. Here is our artist statement:
In order for a reunion to occur there has to be an initial separation or a break in the original union. Sometimes this separation happens because of distance, time or in many cases conflict. In this sense reunion is the return from disharmony or disconnection to harmony and connection. When a conflict stands between two parties, the conflict must be resolved before they can live in union again.
This piece tells the story of reunion through the familiar backdrop of fairy tales. In each scene, previously opposing characters are brought together to enjoy an activity that brings a new sort of harmony. In these retold visual stories, the point of conflict becomes the hinge upon which their relationship turns.

Antiquing + Hot Dogs
So today I got to play a little bit! I didn't really have much planned for the middle of the day and ended up hanging out in the gallery for a bit then walking to a near by antique market in Chelsea. A friend let me borrow his camera lens for the day and I'm completely in love! I shot about 140 pictures in total today....oh my! Here are just a few from my antiquing and hot dog eating adventures :) PS is it just me or do hot dogs and antiquing go together? I know there is an antique market in AZ that has a gourmet hot dog bar thing but I don't know if that's normal or not. Any who hope you had a great day :)
