Art Bomb!
What a fun event! Last night we had our second quarterly annual Art Bomb and it was a blast! We were able to borrow the DayTwelve space which was perfect and a huge blessing. Last Art Bomb we did sort of yard sale style and the art was on tables. This time we had a gallery to hang stuff up in as well as a kitchen to prepare foods and space for bands to play. Leigh and I had artwork up and Maria and Michelle of Refurban had some kick butt refurbished furniture and clothing. Music was provided by two great local acts Tobie Milford and Hurry the Rising. I think the best part of the evening though was all the great people that showed up. Seriously so many of my favorite people in the whole world all in one space. You made my night :) Such a good time!!
Also we got some press on the New Times! Check it out here: Phoenix New Times

Expired Polaroid: Ghosts
Last night I did a little bit of experimentation with some expired Polaroid 669 film and came out with some kind of eerie cool images. I bought several packs of the film for a class I didn't end up taking a few years ago and shortly there after the film was discontinued. I kind of forgot about it and then recently was able to borrow a daylab so I decided to see what would come out. Basically with the daylab you can take images you've previously created and expose them to the Polaroid film which is pretty rad. I initially had used the daylab to create polaroid transfers but this time around mainly used it to create Polaroids of images I had taken.
I was super excited that the film still worked although expired but I was kind of bummed out by the color quality. Here are a few Polaroids I created a few years ago. The film was fresh so the color is way more vibrant.
The expired images definitely have a very eerie ghostly feel to them I'm kind of excited about. I have quite a few more Expired Polaroids but I'll save for another entry as to not further overload with images. If you're interested in seeing some of the Polaroid transfers you can view them here. Hope you all are having a wonderful afternoon!

Photoshoot: Tobie Milford
So apparently this week was a bit busy and I did not blog at all! Well to perhaps redeem myself just a little bit I wanted to share one of the projects I worked on this week- photographs of the amazingly talented Tobie Milford. Tobie is an incredible musician and a fantastically sweet human being. He recently put out his first album, Alyosha, and has been blowing up ever since. His musical style has been described as an “ethereal symphony of sound” and has been compared to Andrew Bird and Radiohead. Check out his tunes at tobiemilford.com and buy his CD (!!!) It will make you infinitely happy! My favorite song is The Disconnected Heart & Voice Box soooo good!
In other news I had an art show fundraiser party this weekend to raise money for my NYC trip and raised about $1000 (yay!!) It was a great turn out and a ton of fun. Also in the news of art shows just found out I will have some art up at Fractal Gallery for the June First Fridays Art Walk. Sooo excited! Alrighty I should be better about bloggin this week and will be writing again soon :)
