Hand Me Downs

So it's been about a year but I've decided to start showing my face round here again with a short outfit post. I recently acquired some ridiculously fabulous "hand me downs" from one of my roommates who will be moving across country soon and needed to clear out her closet a bit. My most favorite piece was this Free People dress which I have worn three times already in the past week and a half (shhh don't tell anyone!!) I also am in love with this horse bracelet which I got from her. The lion necklace I've had for a bit and is from H&M and the blue and gold necklace is vintage given to me by a friend bought at a garage sale :)

It's been quite awhile since I've done an outfit post and since I got a little bit festive yesterday for the 4th of July I decided it would be a good idea to document and share. Hope everyone had a great holiday! Did anyone do anything fun? :)

Storybook Chic

Okay, so I'll admit it. I found this dress in a costume section during Halloween time at a thrift store but I think it makes an awesome daily wear too! Definitely not appropriate for every occasion but once in awhile it's nice to add a little bit of magic and whimsy to the every day. I'm also wearing a new headband which I made last night to match my storybook dress :-)

What I Wore: Vintage Twirling Dress

This is another one of my favorite vintage dresses that has been in my closet for a couple of years but I don't think I've ever photographed it. I absolutely love the neckline and the fullness of the skirt which is extremly good for twirling around in :)

I'm pretty excited about the weekend. Going to hang out with some good friends I haven't seen in awhile and also go to a 90s dance party (!!) I have no idea what I'm going to wear yet but I hope it to be very brightly colored and possibly involve a fanny pack. I am planning on photo documenting the event so stay tuned for some crazy pictures. Anyone have any fun plans for the weekend? :)

What I Wore: Flower Lady

This is one of my all time favorite vintage dresses. I found it at Buffalo Exchange a couple of years ago when I was looking for an outfit to wear to a big art show I had coming up. I absolutely love the color and cut. Makes me feel like such a lady!

Hope everyone is having an excellent weekend! I've had quite a busy one filled with lots of friends and fun times. Friday night I went to a What Laura Says Thinks and Feels show at the Crescent Ballroom which was INCREDIBLE. Last night went to another Gospel Lee show and took a TON of photos as his official photographer. Then went to see "The Artist" which was an incredible silent film about silent films. Super rad, I highly recommend. Finished off the evening with some of my favorite people at SideBar. A pretty wonderful weekend if you ask me :-)

I recently thrifted this super saucy lil red dress that was supposed to be for the shop but I think I may have to keep it for myself! It's such a spunky dress. It demands WEAR ME NOW! LET'S GO ON DATES! LET'S DANCE! The crazy extra layer of hip poof definitely makes me wider looking than normal which makes me a tiny bit self conscious but I think it's okay. A lil bit more curviness would probably do me good ha.

Dark Hair Dark Lips

Ramage 90s Velvet Grunge Dress

So I decided to go a bit darker on the red and I really like it! Unfortunately red fades pretty fast so it won't be this dark for long but I think it'll fade better than the more orangey red I've been going with lately. I happened to find a darker shade of lipstick in my makeup bag this morning that matched my hair perfectly which is a little bit creepy little bit awesome. It made me feel a little bit goth grunge so I decided to wear this fun 90s Velvet Rampage dress.

On a side note one of my semi New Years resolution things is to get out of my garage and a little bit more creative with my outfit photos. It mostly means asking people for help and getting out of my comfort zone with the possibility of other people seeing me make weird faces and poses ha.

Kitten Paws Vintage turns Three Years Old!

Just a few silly pictures and a tiny happy dance to say that today Kitten Paws Vintage turns three years old! It's crazy to think that my fun little side project that initially started as a desire to get more into fashion photography has become sort of a legitimate thing hah :)

This year has been kind of a big one for me. I meant to do some sort of reflective New Years post and it didn't happen so this will kind of be it... or part of it at least ha. Some highlights from this past year have been doing lots of awesome photoshoots with so many lovely people, having my first local pop up shop, getting lots of really nice press, having artwork at some legit galleries, getting voted Best Style Blog by the Phoenix New Times, launching my line of handmade Flower Crowns  and my most favorite thing ever of the year, doing a photoshoot for NYLON Magazine! Seriously I feel so blessed and excited for so many positive things in such a short amount of time. I've been brewing some crazy personal and professional plans and goals for this upcoming year (which I hope to share soon!) and I am so so ecstatic to continue to move forward and to grow.  Hope everyone is having a wonderful new year so far! Can't wait to continue to share my journey with you all :)

Hello all and merry almost Christmas! Only a few days away and I almost feel ready. Had a pretty fantastic Christmas party with friends over the weekend and now it's time to celebrate with family for the next few days. I'm super excited to see my sister who will be in town with all her kids. I have presents for almost everyone - one more person to go. Gettin pretty darn excited :)

Lover of Lace

 

This outfit embodies so many things I am loving right now. The lace dress I got it in the kids section at a local thrift store. I've only worn it out a couple of times including last night to a really great show at the Sail Inn. I try to wear flowers in my hair as much as possible and this headband is one of my favorites. I always love a pretty vintage cameo necklace so this one which I recently found at Buffalo Exchange has found a special place in my wardrobe. The shoes I have been wearing A TON lately with both dresses and jeans. I found them about a month and a half ago at a thrift store and even though they were a size or two too big I knew they had to come home with me.

Raccoon Tail Love...

 

So I randomly found a real raccoon tail hat at a thrift store and HAD to buy it. Kind of gross / kind of awesome. It's a bit small for my giant pile of hair but I luvvvs it! I don't know that I plan on wearing it out any time soon but it will definitely be fun for photoshoots :-)

I just thrifted this dress a few days ago and I am LOVING it! It's extremely comfortable and casual yet... dressy. It's a little bit wild but not too wild. Just perfect on all fronts! I also found these amazing vintage roper boots on the same trip, so it was quite a good day.

What We Wore

Andre and I had the most excellent day date yesterday at The Farm At South Mountain. We got brunch at their Morning Glory Cafe and it was absolutely deeellish! I got the South Mountain Omelet which I would HIGHLY recommend if you are a local. Goat cheese + local farm grown veggies + salsa verde =yum town. After brunch we walked around snapped a few photos and talked about life. It was quite a wonderful and refreshing time.

My Favorite Accessory

My favorite little guy was out just in time for a few outfit photos! He was out twice today maybe because it's getting a tiny bit cooler outside.

About this outfit: I may or may not have bought this dress in the childrens section, you decide ha! Paired with fancy new (old) cowboy boots, one of my favorite handmade headbands and a vintage handmade owl necklace. I'm feelin' a bit like a flower child today. Well the heat does make it a bit difficult to take outfit photos but here are a couple of snapshots of todays outfit! My go to accessories these days seem to be my black lacy vintage bloomers that I wear underneath almost everything and a pretty handmade headband :) Hope everyone is having a lovely week!

Not so Mellow Yellow

Hello beautiful friends! I hope everyone is having a lovely Saturday! Today it is my plan to go thrifting and then make some new headbands. I made a handful of new ones yesterday including the one pictured above and I plan to actually have some for sale at the next Kitten Paws pop up shop which will be happening in a couple of weeks at a downtown phoenix first friday gallery. Yayy!! I've been planning this for awhile but I think I'm FINALLY happy enough with the craft that I am comfortable selling them :)

I was supposed to have a meeting this afternoon but it got canceled so I have the day to myself. Other plans include doodling, drinking coffee and maybe swimming later this evening. Yay for Saturdays!

Rampage Grunge Rock.

 

I'm pretty sure Rampage makes the most awesome 90s floral printed gruge dresses, ever. Just swooped this one up from Goodwill earlier this week and it is quickly becoming one of my favorites :) I was having kind of a bad day when I found it. My car had broken down and while waiting for my ride I decided to walk to the Goodwill which luckily was not a mirage in the distance. So kind of crappy lame situation turned into awesome. Instead of waiting outside in the 115 degree heat I went shopping and found a new favorite dress for $10, win! Anyone else have a nearly disastrous day/week turned awesome by the little things?

Ps on a side note car troubles just ended up being the battery which is the least of car problems you can have. I was rescued and then jumped by bomb.com friends and my dad came over and put a new battery in. Seriously I'm so blessed....!

Polka Polka

This dress may or may not seem familiar to you because I sort of kidnapped it out of the shop. It's one of my favorites and I was reluctant to put it for sale but it's been up for over a month and no one has purchased it so I'm putting it back into my closet for now mwhaahah :) Paired with a victoria secret lace blouse (ooohlala!), my favorite Dingo boots and of course a headband made by yours truly.

Hope everyone is having an excellent week! Mine is good so far. Had an awesome zombie movie night earlier this week, went out for sushi Thursday to celebrate beautiful Johanna's b-day and went to a pizza pool party last night. Today I get to sit and sip coffees and code websites, yay! It's actually an okay way to spend part of my Saturday. I feel like a bum when I don't accomplish anything productive during the span of a day so on a day like today where theres not much going on I'm okay with doing some work. Tonight on the other hand will be for friends and socialness, yay! Excited for a fun evening with some good people :)
